 HEATHEN SONS-"Born to lose"

New Southern bands tend to have influences that distant themselves from the classic Southern sound.HEATHEN SONS have the sensitivity of Nashville songwriters, blend with the melancholy of Bruce Springsteen and the Southern harmonies of bands like THE OUTLAWS, DOC HOLIDAY, BLACK CROWES, DRIVE BY TRUCKERS. The so-called college Southern rock finds here a strong contestant for the crowd. A very strong album (inspired partly  by the death of the first born son of the singer Josh Huggins) that really captivates the listener with its melancholic melodies and the strong, expressive voice of the singer Josh Huggins. Ryan Adams,Kings of Leon, artists at the far left of the modern alternative rock/americana sound are among their described influences but the guys are far more original and not the typical bunch of whining college boys who dream of becoming cowboys.

If you like your bourbon straight, you work 9-5 in the big city, the future seems bright only on Friday night and you want a good companion, for the night before you take your children from your ex for another parental weekend, get a copy of this album. It might travel you to the beaches of life where you landed to conquer the world and your dream crashed, a few decades earlier. Special mention to the guitar sound of the album that reminds a lot of the mighty GEORGIA SATELLITES at their mature days.
