Ron Keel Band- "South X South Dakota"
Sometimes i don't get it and i don't think i should. Ron Keel's turn to Southern Rock and Country is more than admirable. I love the guy and his voice and i found this turn as invigorating. But releasing an album , live from the studio as i get it, full of covers (38 SPECIAL,MARSHALL TUCKER BAND, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, BLACKFOOT etc) although not at only well known songs , there must be something to it. The songs was kinda of rehearsal warm ups, during the band's recording sessions for their last studio albums. When they accidentally listen to them, they understood they were worth airing ,as a honest tribute to their musical roots.
Musically speaking, we are talking about a more than decent covers album,a bit more metal sometimes, but that is something we all were expecting. If you re in for almost an hour of a bit more metal renditions of classic Southern,Country songs, this is going to be your album and trust me it does the work real good. A honest tribute to the music we grew up with, no matter where we live. Southern to the day we die.
