Sons of birches-"Wooden head and several more scenarios"

Canadian psychedelic rock for the 21st century, a joke, a harsh reality or a revelation. I lean towards the third option. These guys have this 90s feeling from bands like SPIRITUALIZED and the voice colors of Neil Young. Psychedelia, classic rock , progressive and folk  plus a decent BEATLES/flower pop taste all together blended in an excellent album that mixes electronic sounds and the CSNY feeling. Long duration compositions with the free jam spirit striking the right nerves in these high anxiety times, releasing endorphins and allowing the listener to trip with the music. 

 

From the more rockin "Valley of the skids" to the folkish "Cosmic girl" , the heavy rockin "Evil mofo" and the cover of MOTORHEAD's "Lost Johnny"  in a nice HAWKWIND/Far Est style, music works perfectly as the soundtrack to travel across milky ways and black holes or lay at the spring grass and get lost watching the night sky. 

 

 

Add the clever and playful lyrics and imagine PINK FLOYD without the arena rock status touring North america in a batter old VW with Sid still in the band, close ,yet not close enough.
