HOL are one of those melodic heavy rock bands that fate didn't treat them right. They should have been enormous. They had the looks, the musicianship, the voice, the guitar player, the keyboard magician and more and above all the songs. Yet after the third album the downfall came, mostly because their slick sound became obsolete in the era of distorted guitars and low tuning. They didn't abandon the game and they are still here releasing new music. The good thing is they are still active. The thing that really matters is that they release music far above the descent. 

They have trimmed the fat of their sound and focus on the essentials of songwriting.Melodies, hooks and the JC voice that still crack the sky,without trying to touch them as he used to do. The new album is a welcome addition to their discography, keeping the flame alive. Sensitivity, melodies, hooks and some modern edge that really keeps the band revitalized and fresh to the new listener. The old ones like myself would be happy to listen over and over to some high quality pomp, AOR.
