Biff Byford- "School of hard knocks"

Biff Byford- "School of hard knocks"

The voice and emblematic figure of legendary metal masters SAXON finally is releasing his first solo album. Was there really a need for this ? Honestly speaking YES...If Biff Byford wants to release  solo work, we are more than happy to listen to it. One f the most honest, down to the ground and direct musicians of or genre earns respect when he expresses himself in the most musical eloquent way. For those who may not have listened to him...are you really in to metal music...Biff was and is always a metal fan in heart. His solo album, is simply metal. No novice elements, no trends...nothing...Just old good heavy metal as it was meant to be from the start of the NWOBHM in the early 80s till today. Some songs may remind a little bit more of his day time work, like "The school of hard knocks" with a touch of "The power and  the glory", others may be a bit more bombastic like :The pit and the Pendulum". But at the end of the listening its all about meta. Even his cover of 'Scarborough Fair" and the dedicated to his wife "Me and you" are fit so easily in to a great traditional metal album. Nothing new, nothing really innovative just metal guitar riffs over heavy drumming and the voice of a man who lives and breathes metal, to our ears.Crack a beer and get ready, Biff is here to tear down the walls.
