THE OUTLAWS- "Dixie highway"
As with most of the long time going Southern Rock bands, OUTLAWS are missing more than few of their original members. Their heydays are long gone but Henry Paul still got it, on how to write a decent song. From the opening song "Southern rock will never die" till the closing "Macon memories" you can name check SKYNYRD, ALLMAN and most of the Southern tradition. So in our days of countrified Southern rock, albums like "Dixie highway" work as painkillers to take the blues of Nashville away and bring back the lovin sound of the triple guitar attack and the howling refrains. "Dixie Highway" is an old song, that has already released under the Ron Keel /IRON HORSE moniker as a collaboration at the vocals department and a bit more metalic. This version leans more to the Southern Rock side and keep the spirit of the open road alive and kickin. A more than decent album with songs that could stand along every classic OUTLAW anthem, songs like "One night from Athens", "Dixie highway" and "Lonesome boy from Dixie". Proud to be a Southerner, hope OUTLAWS will carry on for some more time till they re gone in the hurry sundown.
