Jason Bieler and and the Baron Von Bielski Orchestra- "Songs for the apocalypse"

When the mighty 90s revived in the form of one of their most prominent musicians in the alternative metal scene, albums like this occurred. Jason Bieler is the guitar ,riff, melody man behind the immensely underrated SAIGON KICK. With this new solo (?) work ,(Baron Von Bielski Orchestra includes Todd La Torre (Queensrÿche),  Dave Ellefson (Megadeth),  Devin Townsend, Pat Badger (Extreme), Jeff Scott Soto and Bumblefoot  (Son Of Apollo)) he embodies BEATLES, psychedelia, flower pop, CHEAP TRICK, JELLYFISH, REDD KROSS, PRIMUS, BOC , KINGS X in one album and make us smile like we're tripping on acid.

Great BEATLES esque melodies and multi vocal choruses, indian influences, power pop riffs and suddenly an album that flourishes in front of us, like a part of a journey to the winging London in his own time machine. The album keeps the basc rock elements and is most and above all an exercise in melody. Not in the AOR style, nore the plastic, commercial 21st century pop melody we have learned to listen to. He keeps the elements of surprise and the more dark, goth sides ``Horror wobbles the Hippo" as his musical taste and hoor are reminiscent of Devin Townsend who also participates in the album alongside Dave Ellefson and Bumbleffot. Free jazz, fusion, metal and power pop in one album. Jason Biler uses the form in his favor creating easy listening ,difficult in writing power pop melodies and throwing among them some fusion/metal infused musical parts like the excellent "Born of the sun" with its middle easten climates. When he wants to make us feel even more uncomfortable he comes to more metal riffing at 'Beyond hope" where nu metal meets SAIGON KICK.

This is a real astonishing album combining the best of the musical worlds he lives in. As with SAIGON KICK ,the main issue is that such an album needs real open minded and educated musical listeners. Unfortunately this is not the 90s and I guess we will talk about a small incident of musical brilliance in a world of plastic, industrial music that got unnoticed.

In any case if you are into KINGS X, SAIGON KICK and BEATLES give this album a try. You'll be surprised how much good music and different forms are inside it and how relaxing and rewarding will be the listening of it. A concept album from a mad man or a musical entity for the world's hermits, in both cases I give my vote of confidence.
Turn the volume and watch the world's apocalypse with Jason Bieler's music being your magic carpet.
