After "Scream" with Ozzy letting go of Gus G and without really working with some guitar wiz, we all had our doubts. The news of him working wioh rapper (?) celebrity Post Malone made the feeling even worse. Why the hell did Ozzman need the publicity of a collaboration with a rapper? And suddenly the first songs of his new album surfaced on the internet. Like Coronovirus, addictive, infectious ,they just confirmed that the great musician knows how to work with the right people. Most of the songs here have the contribution of his main man/producer Andrew Watt who may not be the guitar player of our heart but is in the vein of Jake E lee and really knows to write songs that honor Ozzy and his legacy .The album has the feeling of "Bark at the moon" and "The ultimate sin" with some "Scream" overtones and even myself , who i m not the biggest Ozzy fan enjoy it. Songs like the emotionally charged ballad "Ordinary man" or the  deranged "Under the graveyard", my favorite " Scary Little green men" and  my personal favorite "Holy for tonite". If we thought Ozzy would leave the building with no trace, we are al so fucking wrong. He is a really  unique artist and even Parkinson disease cannot take him down. If this is his swan song , its one among his best efforts. My respects to the mighty madman.

Bryan Beller- “Scenes from the flood”

When we talk about progressive rock, fusion, country, jazz, metal whatever, we have to take under strong consideration artists like Bryan Beller. His time with THE ARISTOCRATS has helped him let himself indulge in a variety of musical trips all around this beautiful album. From pure fusion and abstract rock to more smooth jazz moments, the album is a masterpiece of musical parts that combine to create various colorful images that nail the listeners mind.

Perfectly executed, solid, technically spotless as along with Beller we find collaborators such as guitarists Satriani, Petrucci, Govan, Keneally, Dawes, Brosh, drummers Gene Hoglan, Ray Hearne (HAKEN) and others, but in the same time not overindulged. “Scenes from the flood” is asking more and more of your attention to travel you in a variety of feelings, sentiments and emotions with top musicianship and true feeling, something that helps to avoid the sterilized products that they serve us in our days as progressive or fusion metal. Music for the people and not the musicians, cinematic, influenced by the time of the great 70s concept albums, music to chill out and dream and not analyze the Brexit.

A lovely album to listen over and over with a glass of wine, a good book and why not watching a beautiful sunset.

Billy Tsounis (CIRCUS OF POWER) continue his personal musical exploration with a new instrumental album. This time he decided to be a bit more of a shredder and also less abstract than his excellent previous work. More cinematic, with landscapes who sometimes remind of Mars (the planet) and others of the smoky jazz clubs of New York, he stretches his musical abilities in favor of the listener. Melody, guitar eloquence in composing and playing and an overall result that has more to do with Frank Zappa and Ennio Moricone than the Shrapnel instrumentals. The Latin flavor and the acid trip  of songs like "Too nervous to reincarnate", "Last dance space boots"  and the magnificent titled "Cow lands plane eats pilot" just add an extra point to an album without real limitations, besides the one the creator set to himself. Enjoyable and trippy

Οι μυθιστορηματικές βιογραφίες είναι ένα είδος προς εξαφάνιση. Οι λόγοι απλοί, κύρια γιατί δεν υπάρχουν πολλές ενδιαφέρουσες προσωπικότητες που να κρατήσουν το ενδιαφέρον του αναγνώστη και ο δευτερευόντως η αδυναμία των συγγραφέων-βιογράφων να μεταφέρουν στο σήμερα, με τρόπο προσιτό στον μοντέρνο αναγνώστη, ιστορικά πρόσωπα και καταστάσεις περασμένων αιώνων.

Η ζωή του Ελβετού Αλέξαντρ Γερσέν, θα μπορούσε χωρίς καν τα ιατρικά της επιτεύγματα να γίνει ταινία. Ένας άνθρωπος, γνήσια μετενσάρκωση στον 19ο και 20ο αιώνα του αναγεννησιακού ανθρώπου του Ντα Βίντσι. Αδάμαστο πνεύμα, που το διακατείχε η αγωνία να μην οδηγηθεί στην στασιμότητα. Ταξιδευτής, ερευνητής, επιστήμονας, εφευρέτης, οικολόγος, όλα μαζί σε μια προσωπικότητα, γεμάτη ιδιοτέλεια, προς τον εαυτό του και ανιδιοτέλεια για τους άλλους. Έγινε γνωστός στους επιστημονικούς κύκλους για την απομόνωση του βακίλου της βουβωνικής πανώλης , που ονομάστηκε προς τιμή του Yersinia pestis. Συγκρούστηκε με Άγγλους, Ιάπωνες, Γερμανούς, όχι στο επίπεδο των αποικιοκρατικών κτήσεων, αλλά στον αγώνα για την απομόνωση βακίλων και της επιστημονικής προσέγγισης και μελέτης, που κάθε σχολή/χώρα θεωρούσε, ως συνήθως σωστή την δική της θεωρία. Για τον Γερσέν, δεν υπήρξε ίχνος επιστημονικού εθνικισμού, αλλά μόνο μια διεπιστημονική, «διεθνιστική» ουμανιστική λατρεία της επιστήμης με απτά αποτελέσματα για τον πάσχοντα. Όμως δεν ήταν μόνο η προσφορά του στην ιατρική σε πρόχειρα νοσοκομεία και καταυλισμούς στην Ασία, που έσωσε χιλιάδες ζωές, με τον εμβολιασμό. Στην πρώην Γαλλική Ινδοκίνα, ο Γερσέν οραματιστής, στήνει μια πρότυπη αγροτική κοινότητα κ ζωντανεύει κάθε όνειρο του. Εκτροφή ζώων, μεταφορά και εγκλιματισμό φυτών από την Ευρώπη και άλλες ηπείρους στην Ασία. Μελέτη των μετεωρολογικών φαινομένων. Οδοποιία, ενσύρματη και ασύρματη επικοινωνία, οργάνωση καλλιεργειών κιγχόνης, καουτσούκ. Εισαγωγή του πρώτου ποδήλατου, αυτοκίνητου, οργάνωση μιας μικρής κοινότητας ψαράδων και εκπαίδευση τους σε επιστημονικούς βοηθούς στον αγώνα του για την καταπολέμηση των βακίλων που ενδημούσαν στον κόσμο και στην παραγωγή εμβολίων.

Ο Γερσέν, γνήσιος και άξιος μαθητής του Παστέρ, διακατέχεται από το μικρόβιο της ανακάλυψης, είτε οδοιπορώντας σε νέα εδάφη αχαρτογράφητα στην Γαλλική Ινδοκίνα ,είτε στο επιστημονικό πεδίο. Μοιράζεται την γνώση και ο,τι αποκομίζει από την εφαρμογή των νέων επιστημονικών εφαρμογών στις καλλιέργειες με το Ινστιτούτο και την μικρή κοινότητα, στο ψαροχώρι που επιλέγει ως βάση της αυτοκρατορίας του. Η ζωή του περνά από την Γαλλοπρωσικό πόλεμο του 19ου αιώνα σε δύο Παγκόσμιους πολέμους του 20ου, κάνοντας τον να απομονωθεί ακόμη περισσότερο εξαιτίας του ανθρώπινου μίσους και της μισαλλοδοξίας. Η πολιτική τον πληγώνει και την αποφεύγει όπως την έκθεση στους βακίλους που μελετά.

Ο Ντεβίλ, με τη μορφή ενός παρατηρητή από το μέλλον, καταγράφει, σχολιάζει τον Γερσέν αλλά και τους συγχρόνους του, Ρου, Σελίν, Καλμέτ, Χάφκιν, Μέτσνικοφ, Βολμάν, κάνοντας ταυτόχρονα σχόλια, για μια Γαλλία και Ευρώπη αποικιοκρατική, που ανθίζει η επιστήμη και η λογοτεχνία, ο υπαρξισμός και ο υπερρεαλισμός και συμβαδίζουν παράλληλα στις πιο δημιουργικές αλλά και πιο σκοτεινές στιγμές του ανθρώπινου γένους. Ο άνθρωπος που ζει για την δημιουργία, πέρα από τις συμβάσεις, αλλά αναζητά την καλλιέπεια όταν βρίσκεται στον Δυτικό κόσμο, τιμάται ακόμα σήμερα στο Βιετνάμ,αλλά έχει ξεχαστεί στη Δύση. Ο Ντεβίλ σκιαγραφεί αυτόν τον πανεπιστήμονα, μέσα από τις επαφές του με οικογένεια, συνεργάτες, μέσα από κείμενα και δημιουργίες, χωρίς να αγιοποιεί. Μοναχικός λύκος ή υπερβατικός οραματιστής, είναι ένας από τους τελευταίους των Μοικανών, που αφήνει τη δόξα και το χρήμα και τα μοιράζει σε συνεργάτες, για να ξεκινήσει ακούραστα να καταπιάνεται με κάτι νέο, όντας πάντα στην εμπροσθοφυλακή, κάθε μορφής επιστημονικής καινοτομίας. Ένα βιβλίο οδηγός, για το πως μπορεί να είναι κανείς συνεπής με τον εαυτό του και ταυτόχρονα χρήσιμος στο κοινωνικό σύνολο.

The second full length studio work of the newest prog mega group justifies the title 100%. Bombastic, melodic, commercial,yet complex, time puzzling, breath taking, encapsulates the FM approach of the WINERY DOGS with the time changing melodic complexity of DT, the melodic versatility of Jeff Scott Soto and produces ,progressive heavy rock for the new decade. Music catchy yet technical, progressive in every senses of the word, with musicianship that outshines most of the genre and jazz musicians too. The album is a joyride for the listener but i have to mention that the tour de force is the closing track, a 15 min monument where Billy Sheehan show s to everyone who is the ruler of the game, a real honoring music piece for this underrated bass player. As for JSS he seems more comfortable with the songs, more custom to the bands vision and really a functional part who contributes with his melodic lines. Overall an album set for the top 5 of 2020.

Its been some time since we haven't heard any new music form Neil Murray but with this latest release he seems he is still in the game. Classic hard rock in the vein of THIN LIZZY, WHITESNAKE, STATUS QUO  and 80s hard rock  but with well written songs and a nice production. Neil Murray & Ken McGowan came together on this project after performing a Glam Rock set at the 100 Club in London! Having recently set up a new studio, Ken invited Neil down to England’s South Coast to help commission the studio. . The album was written & recorded at McGowan’s Blackberry Studios over a 9-month period. All songs were written by Murray & McGowan with Rab McGowan also contributing to the writing on "9999". As the recent GRAND SLAM album , although here the songs are originals, we have those 80s legendary musicians do what they know best. Producing classy hard rock , as they always have for the new generations. You wont expect the album to be nothing more than catchy melodies with great hooks and the best bass lines you may here in the hard rock genre. They never had the intention to reinvent the wheel and believe me, "Out from the inside" is nothing more than an inspired hard rock album, that can stand proudly among your 80s goodies at your record collection.

Well i guess we saw it coming. The CT are becoming not only a country act (something i really support) but also a modern country act, with elements from other musical genres like rap and pop, that makes me feel questioning their musical taste from time to time. "Labels" is a fine example of a song that has the modern country/synth pop elements that makes it equally intriguing and appealing as it estranges a more traditional listener like myself. While Kid Rock decided to move the other way, CT decide form hard rock and countrified Southern rock to modernize their sound and it worlds but not in all the cases. 'Riaise hell' has this modern feeling, that makes country music great for a Saturday night for Nashville to New York, but listening to Beck and "Loser" in the 90s was not my cup of tea and still isn't , although the low slow tempo and the country elements unified in a pretty interesting and mesmerizing song. I have listened the album more than a dozen times and still can make up my mind.

  Its different, exploring from song to song new sounds and territories, just like having two bands in the same studio recording. If you re in to the more traditional  Southern/Country sound, songs like "Back home", "Hard out there for a country boy" will definitely speak to you. If you re more in to the FM country pop of the 00s , the album has again something to give  to you. Well i guess , been at the South of Europe doesn't help and i can always gob ack to my BLACKBERRY SMOKE, LYNYRD SKYNYRD albums, but i must admit this is a damn honest attempt to diversify their sound and they know how to write a catchy tune. So i ll give them a 7, cause its never too late to be a country boy, if you re in to more classic Southern rock,country sounds ..then make it a 6.5
